NEC found a new carbon material, carbon nano brush is expected to improve battery performance

NEC announced in June 30, 2016, the first found in the world called "carbon brush" carbon materials. This new material can improve the performance of the battery and sensor, but also to the plastic and rubber to give electrical conductivity. Carbon brush is made of carbon nano angle (CNH) was formed by the fiber like polymerization. The diameter is about 100nm and the length is about 1 ~ 10 m. The carbon material is CNH CNH spherical polymer (spherical CNH). The carbon brush and the spherical CNH are both strong and difficult to be aggregated. The difference between them is the conductivity. The conductivity of the carbon brush is 10 times higher than that of the spherical CNH. The reason is that the distance between the spherical CNH dispersed in the base material is relatively far away, and the electron of the carbon nano brush is passed through the connecting fiber structure, and the current is easy to flow. The charging and discharging speed can be increased by 15% to 10 when the carbon nano brush is used for the conductive material of the battery electrode.
In addition, the specific surface area of CNH, therefore, can be maintained on the surface of other substances "adsorption" is very strong. Using this property, it can be used as a high performance adsorbent. Method of making carbon nano carbon brush is to target laser containing iron catalyst. Although with the preparation method of spherical CNH is almost the same, but the spherical CNH is used in carbon target containing no iron. As long as the change of target, will be able to make the same size spherical CNH (1kg/ day).
